How to resolve Sprinto check for running antivirus on staff device

About

Sprinto check: Antivirus should be running on staff device

The above check fails if the staff device has no active antivirus.

Purpose

The purpose of the checks is to ensure that the staff device is secured from malware and viruses that could lead to a data breach or grant unauthorized access.

The antivirus constantly scans the device for potential threats and blocks access to any possible threat, securing the data stored and processed in the device.

Running Antivirus on Staff Device

Review the condition to ensure the above Sprinto check passes:

  • Mac OS

Apple’s Mac OS comes with an in-built antivirus service called Xprotect. Xprotect is enabled by default on all devices. Sprinto checks the status of Xprotect on your device and sets the check status to “Passing.”

  • Windows OS

Microsoft Windows comes with a built-in malware and threat detection service called Defender. Sprinto verifies the status of Windows Defender or the presence of any third-party antivirus to set the check status to “Passing.”

  • Linux OS

Ensure you have a third-party antivirus installed on your device to set the above Sprinto check status to “Passing.”

The most commonly used antivirus on Linux machines are:

  • ClamAV

  • Sophos Antivirus

  • Comodo

  • Bitdefender

  • F-PROT
