How to resolve Sprinto check for monitoring Oracle Cloud ATP database Free Space
About
Sprinto check: Free space of an ATP should be monitored
Oracle Cloud offers comprehensive monitoring capabilities to ensure the health and performance of your infrastructure and applications. Monitoring free space on your Oracle Cloud resources is crucial for managing storage capacity, preventing potential downtime, and optimizing resource allocation.
Purpose
The purpose of free space monitoring in Oracle Cloud is to monitor and alert on the available storage capacity actively. This monitoring helps you:
Capacity Management: Monitor free space to effectively manage storage capacity across your Oracle Cloud resources, ensuring that you have adequate storage available to meet current and future demands.
Prevent Downtime: Proactively identify and address issues related to low disk space, reducing the risk of downtime and ensuring continuous availability of your applications and services.
Optimize Resource Allocation: Monitor free space to optimize resource allocation and utilization, ensuring efficient use of storage resources and minimizing costs.
Monitoring free space provides insights into the storage health and capacity utilization of your Oracle Cloud resources, enabling you to take proactive actions to prevent potential storage-related issues.
How to resolve
Follow the below steps to create an resource monitoring alert on the Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP):
Before you begin
Ensure you have “Admin “ access on the Oracle Cloud you wish to create alert.
Ensure you have a ATP configured, to create the the resource monitoring alert.
Create monitoring alert
Log in on Oracle Cloud using your credentials.
From the Oracle Dashboard, select the ATP database from the Resource explorer.
Now, select the ATP database you wish to create the metric monitoring alert.
Scroll down to Metrics section, and select Create an alarm on this query for the Storage utilization resource metric.
Enter the Alarm Name, and Body to describe the alert in brief.
Ensure the following metric description is selected.
Metric namespace: oci_autonomous_database
Metric name: StorageUtilization
Set the alert trigger value as per your requirement.
Define your alarm notifications. You can select a topic from the drop-down menu to define the users receiving the alarm notification. If required, you can create a new topic.
Review your selections, and click Save alarm.
Once the alert is created, Sprinto retrieves the change from your integrated Oracle Cloud account on Sprinto, and sets the assigned check status to "Passing."
