# Staff Device Ownership

**What has Changed?**

With this update, users will now be able to view and manage all reported devices in the MDM, regardless of ownership details. This provides a more comprehensive view of all devices and allows for better management overall.

Previously, all device data from the MDM tool wasn’t fetched and shown on the MDM provider page. Sprinto used to show only devices mapped to the staff from the MDM provider. Now with this enhancement, we will be showing both mapped and unmapped devices from the provider. Users can also map devices to staff or mark them out of scope through a manage drawer CTA on each device row.

We have also added a new monitor to help with the management of unmapped devices. The "**Reported device needs to be mapped to a staff.**" monitor will now fail when a device is unmapped to a staff. The admin will need to map the device to a staff member to resolve the issue. The check will become inapplicable if the device is marked out of scope.

To make use of this feature:

1\. Log into the Sprinto app as an admin.

2\. Click on "Staff devices" in the menu.

3\. If you have an integrated MDM provider other than Dr Sprinto to monitor device health, click on the integrated MDM provider page.

4\. You will be able to view all devices fetched from the MDM provider and check the status of each device.

5\. Use the manage drawer CTA on each device row to see device details, device ownership, and device scope options.

**Evaluating the implications of this change**

It is crucial to note that with this update, we want to assure you that if your organisation is currently undergoing an audit, this update will not impact your ongoing assessment. The new monitor introduced is a task-based monitor which doesn’t have an impact on the audit dashboard. Its sole purpose is to let you complete your task on time.

We are constantly striving to improve our product and provide you with enhanced features that make your compliance processes more efficient and effective. We appreciate your understanding and trust in our product's evolution.

Should you have any questions or require further clarification regarding this update, please do not hesitate to reach out to your CSM or <support@sprinto.com>. We are here to assist you and ensure a smooth transition.

Thank you for choosing Sprinto. We value your partnership and look forward to continuing to serve you with the utmost dedication.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.sprinto.com/data-library/staff-devices/dashboard-actions/staff-device-ownership.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
